Since we remember, we’ve been always saving up money to always eventually spend it on TRAVEL.
Each trip excites us and tastes different but also educates, not always pretty pictures.
We feel troubled and unhappy when we see human devastation of the astonishing places we visit.
Our species’ interference is noticed globally and brings disturbing reflection.
We disagree with further ignorance and want to act.
SO WE ADAPTED OUR HOUSE:
-
we eliminated plastic bottles with water filters at home
-
installed rainwater collectors
-
recycle garbage into 5 categories
-
installed solar power to reduce CO2 emissions
-
replaced the light bulbs into energy saving ones
Then we felt the above were some easy steps and why not go further?
SO WE CHANGED OUR HABITS:
-
we don't buy any food wrapped with plastic and always carry our own cotton bag
-
we quit eating meat
-
we take short showers and collect the water to flush the toilet
-
limited the number of cosmetics in the bathroom (one-in-one-out rule)
-
we are conscious consumers everyday and everywhere
Then we started to search for new, often demanding
WAYS TO BE MORE ECO-ORIENTED:
-
We fixed all leaking faucets. Did you know, if your home has one faucet leaking at a typical rate of ten drops per minute, that one faucet is wasting three liters of water per day. That's 90 liters per month
-
We commute and drop our kids to kindergarten on bikes
-
We continuously search for new ways to be more conscious and educate our kids in such way
Now we feel like we can and should do even more. To have a bigger impact on the planet,
WE CREATED BEMAKAI.
In Hawaiian makai means towards the sea.
Acting makai is very close to our minds and hearts. Everything we do is makai.
JOIN OUR MOVEMENT AND BE LIKE US. BEMAKAI.
